Dr. Cason's short bio

Dr. Cason began teaching in 1985 after receiving a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Music in saxophone performance from Northwestern University.  In 2011, his doctoral study from his Doctor of Education degree from Walden University included a lesson plan that created a statistically significant increase in student achievement when teachers activated students’ prior knowledge.

Several standout events include his playing for the dedication ceremonies of Walt Disney World’s EPCOT Center in 1982, President George H. W. Bush in 1992, and recipient of the Walden University 2013-2014 Presidential Alumni Research Dissemination Award.  As a founding member of the Cobb Wind Symphony, Glenn is a recipient of the Sudler Silver Scroll, has performed twice at the Mid-west Band and Orchestra Clinic, Georgia Music Educator’s Convention, and the National Band Association/College Band Directors National Association Convention, among others.

Professional affiliations include Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society where he judges national competitions and is secretary and board member of the Alpha Epsilon Xi chapter, Phi Delta Kappa International where he judges state and national competitions for the Future Educators Association, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Phi Mu Alpha, among others.  Glenn is currently in his 13th year as band director in the Paulding County School District, Dallas, GA, an active clinician, teacher mentor, performer, and adjudicator.  He has second-degree brown belt in Taekwondo, is an avid amateur photographer, enjoys research, and lives with his wife and two dogs in Douglasville.
